Step 1: describe the yard you want
It takes under two minutes to describe a project. Tell us the area, roughly in square feet — the published model defaults to 500 — what is on the ground now, what the turf is for (lawn, pets, play, or a putting green), whether dogs use the yard daily, how water currently drains and where it goes, and when you want the work done. Two minutes of accurate detail is what lets a professional quote usefully instead of guessing.
The four answers that change a quote most are the area, whether the yard is a pet yard, the existing surface, and whether the old lawn, the sprinklers and the debris have to come out. Everything else is refinement.
Step 2: we route your request within one business day
Within one business day your request goes to up to three artificial turf professionals who work in your area. Providers in our network are checked for state licensing and insurance coverage where that information is available, and their profiles carry a verification date. Routing matters in this trade because the build is decided by the ground: a crew working on clay and caliche deals with different excavation, compaction and drainage questions than a crew on sand, and a professional who installs in your part of the Valley of the Sun has already solved the soil, the slope and the drainage path your yard presents.
Step 3: compare itemised written quotes
Expect quotes to differ in what they include, not only in price. Compare them on the lines that decide what the lawn costs to own:
- The excavation depth — 2 to 3 inches for light-traffic residential, a 4-inch minimum for a pet yard, up to 6 inches in heavy clay
- The aggregate named by type: #57 clean washed angular stone or CA7, against Class II road base or decomposed granite, with the tonnage and the 10 percent compaction buffer shown
- The compaction standard in writing: 95% Standard Proctor in damp 2-inch lifts
- The slope, published at 1 to 2 percent running away from structures
- Where the weed barrier goes — the bottom of the excavation, not under the turf
- The turf specification: face weight, pile height, UV-stabilised or not, and whether the backing is fully permeable or hole-punched
- The infill material and the pounds per square foot — basic turf and silica sand is published at 4.00 per square foot combined against 6.00 for rapid-drain turf and zeolite
- Whether removal of the existing lawn, the sprinklers and the debris is included, and where the spoil goes
- Whether edging, seaming and disposal are included
- The drainage plan for rain and for pet urine
- The material warranty and the workmanship warranty, quoted separately
- The realistic timeline, against the published two to six weeks from signed agreement to completion

You decide who to call, what to ask and who to hire — or you hire nobody. Once you select your artificial turf professional, they handle everything from excavation to cleanup. You receive a detailed contract with scope of work, timeline, and payment schedule. How many quotes should I get?
Up to three providers receive your request. Compare what each one includes rather than the headline number — the published instruction is to get at least three quotes with the same scope of base work, because a cheaper quote that skips the excavation depth, the geotextile or the compaction standard is not cheaper, it is incomplete.
What if I only want advice, not a quote?
